Number Of Cars:
Worldwide Automobile Productions
The automobile is one of the most important means of
transportation today.
The Number of cars, busses and trucks is increasing every
day. Already in the middle of the year 2010, for the first
time ever they were more than 1 billion cars registered
worldwide. In the beginning of 2019 they were about a quarter
of a billion more.
And the peak is not just yet reached.
With the upcoming and quickly expanding economics of
threshold countries like China or India and the resultant
improvement of the level of living for the local human
population,
more and more people will be able to afford automobiles.
And because of the often huge populations of these countries
that means,
that the growth will presumably go on and increase even
more.
With 3.1 automobiles build per second, the number will
significantly rise through the next decades.
Currently about 100 million new automobiles are being
produced in the world every year. Of course not every single
one of it will be sold, but calculations say that by the year
2035 over 1,8 billion automobiles will be in use worldwide.

THE HISTORY OF THE AUTOMOBILE
Since the beginning of the eighteenth century, the idea of an automobile
has been explored in one form or another. In 1769, Nicolas-Joseph
Cugnot of France designed the first road locomotive; it was powered by
steam, weighed two tons, and was capable of reaching a speed of 4 mph.
During the 19th century, other attempts at self-powered vehicles were
made. Yet, the first mass-produced automobile was created by Karl Benz
in 1888.
The design, like many before it, used a combustion engine fueled by petrol
gas. Although it was incredibly advanced and revolutionary for its time,
Benz's first ever automobile was slow and unreliable. Yet, this didn't deter
many people from wanting to own one.
Despite its humble beginning, the automobile quickly caught on around
the world and has remained a popular mode of transportation ever since.
Estimates suggest that over 15 million cars were produced in the first
twenty years after Benz's first prototype went into production. In the
earliest models, drivers had to manually crank the engine in order to start
it.
The development of the internal combustion engine made automobiles
more reliable and, more importantly, faster. This also allowed for the
development of the gearbox, which allowed drivers to switch from one
gear to another without having to stop the car. This was a major
breakthrough as it allowed for greater control and speed.
The development of the automobile has been an ongoing process and
continues to be one of the most important human inventions. It has made
transportation easier, cheaper and more efficient. From its beginnings as a
revolutionary and unpopular design to one of the most ubiquitous modes
of transportation, the automobile has come a long way in two hundred
years.
DEVELOPMENT OF CAR PRODUCTION SINCE 1990
The automotive industry has had a remarkable growth since the year
1990. Since then, the number of cars made annually has increased
significantly due to advances in the production process and technology.
This growth has resulted in a larger demand for raw materials - ranging
from fossil fuels to metals and plastics - to keep the assembly line going.
According to recent data, global car production has grown from over 24
million cars made in 1990 to a whopping 98 million in 2020. That's an
increase of 304% over the course of 30 years. This serves as evidence
that the automotive industry is stronger than ever and is continuing to
experience growth every year.
A deeper dive into the production data shows that China has been the top
producer of vehicles since the year 2000. In 2020, they produced just over
30 million cars alone, making up roughly 31% of all global production that
year. India is also a major player in the automotive industry, having
produced more than three million cars in 2020, making it the fourth-largest
producer.
Looking ahead to the next two decades, many experts predict that car
production growth will continue to increase steadily but at a slower rate
than in the past. This is mainly due to several factors such as the
transitioning to electric vehicles and improved fuel economy standards.
To sum it up, car production has grown exponentially since 1990 and has
only gotten stronger with each passing year. China has been the leading
producer by a large margin, but India is also an important contributor to
the global automotive industry. Looking ahead to the next two decades,
car production should continue to be strong but at a slower rate than in the
past.
